Residential Real Estate Agents in Ontario Park their Licence


If residential real estate agents all over the Province of Ontario Canada are parking their licence then why should anyone follow through and proceed with investing time and money to obtain a RECO Registration?


It takes about 18 months or sooner depending on the student and about 3-5 thousand dollars when you consider your courses and  joining a Brokerage and becoming a Member of the TREB or your local Board, OREA and CREA.  Students are still completing their studies and passing their exams thereby qualifying as a Registrant with RECO by joining a Brokerage in Ontario.  Yet, they choose to place their real estate licence on hold with a Brokerage with the intention of NOT selling real estate for the immediate future.

Answer: Not all real estate agents and real estate graduates are prepared to continue a career path in selling residential properties.  They proceed with keeping their licence in force with RECO by having their realty licence held by a special services Real Estate Brokerage that permits agents to park their licence without the sales costs such as membership fees.
